Ground / Telemetry / Flight Safety

Celeres (formerly GTD) has developed and deployed the entire Launch Control System (LCS) for the Andøya Spaceport in Norway. This system serves as the core ground segment infrastructure responsible for the ground-based flight safety for orbital launches. The LCS receives and integrates real-time data from launcher telemetry and radar stations to ensure reliable vehicle acquisition and tracking.

The system provided four major operational modules. The Flight Safety module evaluated launch criteria and displayed safe flight conditions, including the management of Automatic Flight Termination System (AFTS) orders. The Launcher Tracking module consolidated telemetry data from the launch site, radar, and lower-range antennas. Crucially, the system incorporated a dedicated module for Maritime Traffic Surveillance to ensure the safety of the launch hazard area. The Countdown Control System handled the definition and synchronization of all launch countdown checks, events, and automated messages. Upon mission completion, the system executed post-mission data logging for trajectory analysis, incident investigation, and operator training via playback facilities.
