Ariane 6 On-Board software Modules

Celeres (formerly GTD) contributed to the development of critical modules within the Ariane 6 On-Board Flight Software (OBS), operating under the responsibility of the industrial prime. The development was executed in strict accordance with the ECSS-Q-ST-80 standard, ensuring the software met Criticality Level B requirements for mission success and high integrity. This involved rigorous verification and validation processes typical of real-time embedded systems for space launchers.

We were responsible for the implementation of two key Application Software (ASW) modules. The first, LTANK (Liquid Tank Management), managed the status and operations of the cryogenic liquid tanks, including the oxygen and hydrogen tanks. It monitored parameters such as pressure, temperature, and fill levels, and handled valve control, pressurisation, and conditioning operations throughout the pre-launch and flight phases.
The second module, LVULC (Vulcain Engine Management), supervised and commanded the Vulcain 2.1 engine, the main cryogenic propulsion system of the Ariane 6 lower stage. This software ensured proper engine ignition, thrust control, monitoring of engine health parameters, and safe shutdown procedures.
