Lunar Gateway i-HAB Application Software

The Gateway International Habitat is a pivotal European Space Agency contribution to the Lunar Gateway, ensuring full crew habitability and utilization before 2030. Working within an international framework that includes the United States, Japan, and Canada, Celeres (formerly GTD) acts as the Application Software contractor, with GTD SAS (France) operating as a subcontractor. Our team is responsible for developing the critical software that governs a highly complex habitable space. This module features two axial and two radial docking ports, integrating an active mechanism for Gateway station docking and passive ports for rendezvous with other modules and visiting vehicles.

To secure these operations, Celeres provides the Application Software running on the flight computers, specifically the Functional Control Module and Remote Interface Units. This software sits directly on top of the Flight Software Execution Platform, which uses the NASA Core Flight System framework. We are delivering the fundamental intelligence for the module by developing an extensive suite of System Managers. These include the Module System Manager, Transit, Thermal Control, Deployable Radiators, Venting, Audio, Power, Avionics, Imagery, Crew Systems, Caution and Warning, and Communication System Managers. The Crew Systems and Life Support components represent the most mission-critical elements we are engineering, directly safeguarding human life in deep space.
We structured the software strictly following the Gateway Autonomous System Management Architecture principles. This ensures a robust hierarchy where each element implements autonomy at its specific level while maintaining strict control authority over the subsystems below it. We also lead the rigorous validation activities on Software Validation Facilities and FUMO platforms. Celeres delivers highly autonomous, safe, and fully integrated software for next-generation human spaceflight, ensuring flawless interoperability with international systems.
